Switch India in collaboration with the Robinhood Army - Mumbai Chapter, conducted a paediatric health check-up camp at Appapada, Malad West, on 2nd June 2019. About 60 children were examined and provided with deworming medication.

At half past eleven, our volunteers were all set for observing the children who had already lined up. We initiated the health check ups by first noting their anthropometric readings, after which the children were asked to move towards general examination desks.

With a paeds-focused general examination form, recording their characteristics and complaints was relatively faster and easier, as well as standardized.

Once this was done, all the children were referred to and examined by our physician volunteer, Dr. Aashna, and it was under her supervision that they were asked to chew on the deworming medication.

We wound up the camp with two volunteers taking charge to counsel the children and explain them the importance of cleanliness, sanitation and healthy eating habits.

The bunch of children we saw were extremely enthusiastic, interactive and jolly. Not only did they share their concerns, but also their hobbies, talents and their performance in school.

Some were so sweet that they offered us their share of chocolates. All in all, it was a great learning experience to contribute as a healthcare volunteer; spending time with them little gems was truly inspiring.
