Health screening is a major step towards improving the health of community, this not only helps us aim towards the present situation faced by people but also the primary cause of the condition.

Yes, for knowing the problems faced by vagrants its important for us to reach out to the community and understand their situation in order to provide the best possible solution to the issue.

Switch India and Robinhood Army are targeting these very issues with different approaches. We a group of 6 medicos along with RHA volunteers conducted a camp at Wadala, a step towards a better cause.

In all 25 people were screened and counselled regarding their health and appropriate referral done to respective department of tertiary care hospital for management.

Issues-
  • Malnutrition
  • Poor hygiene
  • Unwanted pregnancy- lack of awareness regarding family planning
  • Ignorance of children by parents
  • Lack of awareness regarding the maintenance of good health
Steps taken-
  • Parents were counselled regarding safe contraceptive measures to avoid unwanted pregnancy and importance of small family norm for better mother and child care.
  • The condition of children was explained and what steps should be taken were explained.
  • Deworming done for all children.
  • Counselling done regarding basic sanitary habits and nutrition.
  • RHA volunteers conduct regular tuitions for educating these children in order to reduce financial burden on families.
  • food was distributed to all children.

The camp overall targeted the core elements of ignorance and illiteracy. Through such collaborations of medicos and purpose driven volunteers we can achieve social welfare goals for a healthy society.
