Switch India group completed their next free medical camp in Shahapur. Shahapur is a census town in Thane district and surrounded by the western ghats of Sahyadri. This camp was in association with Lion's club,Shahapur on 8th October 2017 at J.K. Bhansali and General Hospital which is in kalambe,Shahapur.

This camp included free General check up, dental check-up, physiotherapy, peadiatric check-up. This camp had all budding M.B.B.S doctors, Physiotherapists, Dentist, B.H.M.S doctors took part in this camp to provide free medical service to the needy.

Two days before the camp pamphlets were distributed in all areas of shahapur town to inform everyone about it. The camp location was near from the railway station to ensure that maximum no of people can attend the camp.

We were given a small OPD like room in the hospital itself to conduct the camp. After having a quick breakfast in the canteen we started with our camp at around 10:00 am in the morning which continued till 3:00 pm in the afternoon.

There was a registration counter handled by Smriti Pratap for enquiry and register no of people coming to the camp. They were guided by Payal Rathod and Shifa S. Following registration was the BP check-up by Preyal and Ankita Vaghela. After which was a desk for General Examination where Ramsha, Prachi Kulkarni and Prachi Shah checked people thoroughly making them comfortable and they were able to make people comfortable in a very short span of time which lead to correct diagnosis and proper treatment on further desks.

Following General examination which was taken by Dr. Aniket, Dr. Prachi and Dr. Saumya, there was a Dentist section where dental problems were addressed by Dr. Chirag.

The physiotherapy desk included Siddhi Desai, Prajakta kadam, Dr. Naushin ,Kritika and Rashmi. There was another room where free counselling for patients was handled by Vidhi Dave and Heer Shah. People went for counselling in maximum numbers. This time we had a Yoga instructor to help us in the camp. Many people took instructions from her to perform yoga at their house.

Free medicines were provided to the patients with correct information to use them and their dosage.We treated cases from minor back pain to neurological cases. We crossed around 100 patients. The volunteers were asked to switch their desks as everyone should get to learn things and the volunteers did so without any hesitation.

Physiotherapists got charts for exercises for the people so that they remember those exercises and perform it regularly. People willing to continue physiotherapy were asked to visit Dr Gauri who was also a part of the camp as the co-ordinator. She treated the patients and also alongside guided the students on their handling skills.

Everyone had their lunch by 1:00 pm and then the camp winded up by 3:00pm. Everything went smoothly. Later, certificates were distributed to the volunteers who participated and worked as a team even though they were from different professions.

Later, we left for manas mandir which is located at shahapur to seek blessings from the lord. It is famous for its beauty. The brass statue of Lord Mahavira is main attraction in this temple.

Everyone was satisfied by their work and we came all smiling back thinking about the scheduling of next camp.
