When India announced its 21 day lockdown, initially most of us were glad to have some respite from the relentless hustle of school, college, or work.
On day 2, boredom hit!
As staying inside became increasingly crucial for the world to tide over this pandemic, we thought we’d make it a little more interesting for you by coming up with Daily Tasks to keep you occupied!
Everyone has different coping mechanisms to face a crisis like this, but if you’ve always wanted to learn or try something new that you’ve never had the time to before, then this is the place for you!
Started from: 26th March, 2020
Day 1: Revisit Your Childhood
Our viewers were asked to relive their childhood memories by indulging in age-old games like making and flying kites, blowing soap bubbles, origami, or reading comics. Alternatively, we asked them to uncover old photo albums and take a walk down memory lane.
Day 2 Challenge: Workout in your own Way!
We encouraged our participants to start exercising in their own way, as the first step towards a healthy lifestyle.
Day 3 Challenge: Neat and Tidy
The next challenge was to clean up and organise their homes, starting from their own rooms.
Day 4 Challenge: Inspire your Inner Chef
All the aspiring chefs amongst our viewers as well as newbies were motivated to whip up gourmet dishes, or even just try their hands out at cooking for the first time.
Day 5 Challenge: Sharpen your Minds
This challenge asked our participants to put their minds to work by solving puzzles like, Sudoku, crossword, and many more.
Day 6 Challenge: Do a Good Deed!
Our viewers were asked to perform a good deed within the safety of their homes, like conserving water and electricity, teaching their grandparents about technology, or feeding birds and stray animals.
Day 7 Challenge: Technology Detox
This challenge might be the most difficult one yet: they were asked to disconnect from gadgets and technology and reconnect with their families. Beating their smartphone addiction will only bring them closer to the ones they love.
Day 8 Challenge: Click Goes my Camera!
This one challenges our viewers to find beauty in ordinary things at home, and capture it with their photography skills.
Day 9 Challenge: Self Love Day
The most relaxing challenge asked them to pamper themselves by indulging in whatever makes them happy, from making a popsicle to applying face masks or reading their favorite book.
Day 10: Make your Bucket List
A perfect opportunity to look forward to and be grateful for all the fun activities in the world outside, they were asked to pen down a list of their wildest desires, motivating them to one day make it a reality.
Day 11 Challenge: Spread Love
A beautiful way to spend this time is by telling our loved ones how much they mean to us, and our viewers were encouraged to do just that.
Day 12 Challenge: Let It Out!
The next challenge asked them to release their pent up stress in whichever way they know best, including dancing, singing, or just simply vibing to their favorite beats.
Day 13 Challenge: Pen Down your Thoughts
Our viewers were motivated to flick a mental switch and get their creative juices flowing to pen down their thoughts and inculcate a habit of writing.
Day 14 Challenge: Learn a New Skill!
This challenge inspired our viewers to learn something new, whether as trivial as sewing a shirt button and changing a light bulb, or any skill they’ve always wanted to learn but never had the time.
Day 15 Challenge: Family Play Time
Yet another way for families to bond is by gathering everyone in the household for a good, old-fashioned board game. It would be a welcome break from the tedium of everyday life.
Day 16 Challenge: Helping Hand!
It seems like no matter what happens in the world, mothers never get a day off from their routine. Thus, we encouraged them to destroy the pattern and give their mothers a break by taking over all the chores.
Day 17 Challenge: Learn a New Language
Cognitive benefits of learning languages are undeniable. Multilingual people have improved memory, better problem-solving skills and display signs of greater creativity and flexibility. We asked our viewers to start with new vocabulary and then progress to phrases and sentences; it may not be simple, but there’s no harm in trying.
Day 18 Challenge: Adopt a Healthy Diet
We motivated them to adopt some healthy eating habits by banishing all ideas of junk and simply follow what our elders eat; after all, they don’t need a nutritionist to know what’s best for the body.
Day 19 Challenge: Plan your Garden
This challenge encouraged those with a green thumb to create their own indoor herb garden, or just try out gardening for the first time.
Day 20 Challenge: Time to Introspect Yourself
We search for happiness everywhere, but we are like Tolstoy's fabled beggar who spent his life sitting on a pot of gold, under him the entire time. Our viewers were asked to look into their own hearts to discover who they really are.
At the end of our 20-day journey together, we were overwhelmed by the responses we got! People from across the country uploaded pictures of them along with hashtags like #GatheringGoodness #InsideOut #HappierMind #ProductiveTimes joyously partaking in our tasks and challenges, and told us how much fun they had.
Keeping your mind busy is an excellent way to spend this trying time!
