"It is when you give of yourself that you truly give." - Khalil Gibran.

The time spent at the orthopedic camp held in Jalna on 19/05/19 was truly one the most satisfying professional experiences so far.

Held in collaboration with the Amrutvela Satsang Parivar, 180+ patients were treated by physiotherapists and orthopedicians, for a variety of conditions from fractures and deformities to arthritis and occupation related disorders.

Despite the scorching heat, the patient turnout - and their patience in waiting - was on high, as was the enthusiasm of our team, which consisted of two orthopedicians and four physiotherapists.

From nine to four, we saw patients from the ages of twenty to eighty, belonging to all manner of occupations. Devising treatment strategies on the spot, coming up with simple ways to explain diagnoses to the patients, and creative homemade substitutions for exercise equipment in a rural setting was an invaluable learning experience. The greatest gift of all, however, were the blessings the patients gave us, and the smiles on their faces as they left happy.

Thanks to Amrutvela and Switch India for smoothly handling the logistics and for making us feel so comfortable and at home despite the long journey from Pune, and for the opportunity to learn and serve. Thank you to Dr. Ankita Talreja (PT) and her entire family as well, especially, for their incredible hospitality and warmth.

We hope we can work together again!
