Switch India in collaboration with bright future NGO organised a Basic First Aid and Training and Management Session on 14 September 2019 in Dharavi.
Much awaited was this kind of an opportunity and so we grabbed it.To teach is still the most effective method of learning. This, we personally affirmed when we started to prepare for this event.
It started with forming a presentation, gathering information, first bursting some of the worng concepts that we had then learning new, updated ones followed by a rigorous mock session by our senior.
On the expected day the session started well in time with 30 young children waiting for us to begin. We covered topics such as wounds and dressing, burn and fire management, fractures and ankle sprain, choking, heart attack, head and spinal injury and emergency services provided by the government.
Demos were provided and notes jotted. The session concluded with an overwhelming question-answer round and doubts session.
The enthusiasm, energy and joyfulness in learning they expressed is another form of inspiration that we have taken home apart from a learning experience. My partner through this journey was Priyanka Pande who happens to be my colleague and friend.
Together we completed a 2 hours teaching and learning process and bid good bye to happy satisfied learners.
What we wait next is to offer some more experiences to our days and quality to our lives by imparting more lectures at various locations and being Switch Indians.
