The Paraplegic Foundation, in the barracks of LTMG Municipal Hospital located at Sion , Mumbai, India is a centre to rehabilitate, and provide total health care facilities for paraplegics and the severely orthopedically disabled.

The Visit to Paraplegic foundation was conducted on Saturday 19th January, 2019 and was attended by few medical and physiotherapy students. The visit was guided by Dr Snehal Patel.

We got to learn about bed side transfers , how physiotherapist teach the patients to roll and sit on bed in the initial stages.. then train them to stand and eventually walk and many more things which we wouldn't get to learn through books.

The visit made me realise the actual problems the patients go through and the importance of physiotherapy to rehabilitate them.

We felt that moving around in a wheelchair is so easy but when we actually sit on it and try to move around we found out it’s a tough job.

Dr Snehal actually taught us how to train patients to move around in wheelchair independently. The patients over there, despite everything they have faced are always smiling and engaging themselves in activities like making books out of waste cloth and other things.

The visit was not only informative but also inspiring. I thank switch India for giving me this opportunity.
