It seems really easy when you plan and plot things in your head , but the difficult part is actually executing it so well. WELL KUDOS TO OUR TEAM! So on the 10th of March our team of 10 people went to Neral.
We were invited by the SUBNAM SAYED ENGLISH SCHOOL. It was their founder’s day. They had a beautiful event planned for the kids .So we reached there around 9am and had our breakfast, following that the programme was to begin. This event was so much different than the other camps that we have conducted. Well here we had to speak in front of 250 kids and parents on the mike. Yeah it does sound too simple of a task but it isn’t.
The program began with a welcome dance performed by these really cute girls from the 2nd grade, following that MRS SHABNAM felicitated us for joining them on their special day. We then began with our program. So this wasn’t just a mainstream show, we were called to discuss few topics with the children and spread awareness about it. The age group was 4-10 years.
In the rural part of India there isn’t much awareness about the basic sanitation or the basic hygiene that these kids need to follow, and thus they are so prone to so many infections and diseases. I & Preyal did an amazing job explaining them the basic of them in the simplest way. The simplest things like ‘Steps for Hand washing’ and ‘How to maintain body hygiene’ were also covered. Along with this we also had Nidhi & Shlok who spoke about the importance of dental hygiene.
Oh well, we also had a live demo of ‘Correct method of brushing for the kids’ and the kids were so responsive and interactive. Following this Shifa spoke about the importance of ‘Healthy Diet’ and the ‘Do’s & Don’ts of eating’ for the kids .She also emphasized on the importance of proteins, vitamins and how essential they are for growing children. Sneha spoke about Exercise and its importance for children.
With kids it’s opposite, unlike us adults they’re never lazy to go exercise because for them exercise is playing games, and in that age that is the most important thing. Later Prajakta spoke about Anaemia and explained it to the parents how anaemia is a condition and not a disease itself. Dietary advice was also given for the same. Dr Aniket & Dr Maitri explained the parents about the ‘National Health Programs’ and told them about the benefits they could avail from it from the government. Given how hot it is & also summer season approaching, Dr Vinit & Khushboo spoke about dehydration and importance of water. It was a really Fun, informative, interactive session. After this the kids were taken for Height/weight calculation.
The doctors then had a one to on conversation with the parents & their kids who had any health problem/condition/query. We had a lot of parents who came to us with their kids. Our team was patient enough to listen to everyone and help them in any way they could. This was followed by Lunch. This amazing day doesn’t just end here. Our volunteers who believe so much in Fitness & fun actually went trekking to PEB FORT nearby.
It was a night trek and we were dead tired but the beautiful city light from the top of the peak of the fort was worth it! We put up our tents and spend a beautiful night star gazing. The morning sunset was breath taking and so Beautiful, the calm away from the chaos of the city. Next morning around 8.30AM we began to descend the fort and reached there by 10AM. Well now was the time to go back home and it wouldn’t be fair if I don’t say that we did come back home with some beautiful memories.
